We had an absolute blast at the RAF Cosford Airshow on 10th June. It was an early start as although we'd set up for the show the day before, we had to be parked up and 'in situ' for 6.00am or we'd get stuck in the queue of 65,000 expected visitors!!!
As you can see it was glorious sunshine and the blue sky was the perfect backdrop to the 100 'planes for each of the 100 years and the magnificent 'Red Arrows'. We loved the static displays, especially the Spitfire and the UXB just 'lying about there'. :)
Romany was wearing a '40s (theme of our marquee,) style silk blouse made from a piece of kimono featuring 'Old Kyoto' and a pair of cream palazzo pants, also vintage silk in an angular damask pattern.
I had my favourite 'Love Birds' wedding kimono on, shortened but authentic. A nod in the 1940s direction, with contemporary linen trousers and t-shirt. Well, I don't have the hair!
Romany had her hair and make-up 'primped' by 'The Blusherettes' who were on hand to transform any willing visitors. Great job, ladies.
The day went brilliantly....items sold...orders for alterations to classic fit kimonos for modern usage and the buzz; the excitement; the noise.....everything was fabulous!
We will definitely return .... if we're invited again!
My own 'chilli-pepper-firecracker' competing with a Spitfire....Who's winning? :D
That 'bomb' disappeared after a while - caused too many panics I think! :D
Romany and I always have to have a selfie if we do a show together. It's now a tradition!
This fine gentleman turned out, luckily for the airman who wasn't sure whether or not to salute him, to be a 're-enactor', dressed as King George V in the role of 'Chief of the RAF' in his Air Marshall's uniform.
Very obliging for royalty!
My lovely customer here bought the kimono she tried on and will have it simply adjusted for length. Well, to be fair, nothing I do is simple or 'they'd all be doing it'!
I mean that that's the only thing I'm changing!
...and we even managed to get a view of some great 'Red Arrow' activity to top it all off!!!
